2025

New year, no new determinations.. I will continue along the same course of action…. to strive to make good life causes and continue to grow as a composer. 2024 was a weird one but some successes… I’m currently composer in residence at The Warwick Arts Centre and my commission for Warwick University’s orchestral society called “The Burning House” went well. I also completed pieces for IGF: ‘self love’ which premiered in October and Wild Plum Arts: ‘Storm ending’ which premieres Autumn this year.

It’s weird writing a piece that receives its first performance many months or even a year after you’ve completed it…. When you are eventually sat in a rehearsal or nervously attending a premiere for a piece that feels like it was written way back yonder, it’s like engaging with a part of your practice that is archived… A ghost from your creative practice… anyway it’s all a learning process.

In November, I started a new (but not that new) post at Birmingham Conservatoire as Lecturer in Composition – transitioning from Visiting Lecturer life there hasn’t seen too many changes. Excited to work more closely with Profs Joe Cutler and Michael Wolters.

I’m hatching some new creative projects but the one thing that keeps getting pushed back is the EP. I hardly have any decent recordings of my work and this is quite a common issue for composers. I can’t even say with confidence that I’ll be able to do it this year…
