Bobbie-Jane Gardner is a composer and arranger based in Birmingham, U.K. Her music often takes as inspiration the sound worlds of 60s African-American orchestral RnB and Soul, Hip Hop/DnB sampling culture, jazz, soul and funk.
Bobbie has been commissioned by Heart n Soul, Spitalfields Music, Onyx Brass, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Persona Arts, Wild Plum Arts, The Stringcredibles and Tom Kerstens’s G Plus Ensemble. Bobbie has completed arrangements for various organisations including the BBC Concert Orchestra and Netflix. Her work has been performed by leading ensembles including Psappha, City of London Sinfonia, London Symphony Orchestra and Ethereal World. Bobbie’s music has been performed at international festivals, including Cheltenham Music Festival, Frontiers Festival and the London Jazz Festival.
Bobbie also works as a visiting lecturer at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and is a practice-based researcher.
