Music Igniter Originally uploaded by Bobbalinhot. Day 7: Participants will look at leadership, planning, behaviour and groupwork skills. We drove down to Stoke to investigate the different facets of group work. We learned about the different roles we play when in groups and how unconsciously we can often be trapped inside roles. Piano pedagogy

Cool site. Been reading up on different piano teaching methodology.

Finally google are showing community arts blogs on their search engines!!

Yippe!! Been waiting ages for Google to check and add community arts blogs to their blog search engine. Dilemmas, shouting and more work in the pipeline

I am in a bit of turmoil as to whether I go for the PGCE/GTP or keep going as a free-lancer. The arguments for both corners are strong. At some point I probably will enter the formal education sector but maybe I will stick this out a while longer I think… Arhhh!!! At one of [...]

It got our vocal chords warmed up and he led us through an exploration of the A min pentatonic scale. We were [...]

The Sound Health Series

An interesting read on how music can improve student’s cognitive abilities. Maybe I should play some classical or baroque music in my troublesome schools.

Update

Things are continuing to go well; I shall be doing some summer projects with Birmingham City Council’s Youth Services and LACES (Looked after children). I also had a meeting with the head of music at my old secondary school and we bounced ideas as to how to get more of the Gifted and Talented students [...]

I am working with the Performing Arts teacher of Perry Beeches School to give some of the year 8 and 9 students an opportunity to experience the joys of music. Some of the groups I am working with seem disengaged with education and for most teachers behavioural issues occur frequently. [...]

It was good to see Music Leader encourage musicians to get involved with blogging, probably for some a good while but I only noticed this page today.
